OK GUYS, THE FORUM WAS LAST NIGHT, I THOUGHT KFDM WOULD BROADCAST IT LIKE THEY ALWAYS DO SO YOU CAN SEE THE CANDIDATES BUT NOPE, HOWEVER MR. SAN JUAN FROM FOX WAS THERE AND SOME OF THE OTHER CHANNELS SHOWED UP I GUESS TO TAKE PICTURES AND I HEARD ONE NEWS PERSON ASK A MAN DO YOU ALWAYS COME TO THESE FORUMS?  TO WHICH HE REPLIED "YES".  I HAD TO LAUGH. THIS GUY WAS YOUNG.  OH MY.

THESE FORUMS USUALLY HAVE A GOOD FEEL TO IT, BUT LAST NIGHT WAS REALLY DIFFERENT.  THERE WERE A LOT OF BACK HANDED COMPLIMENTS AND IN FIGHTING BETWEEN CAMPS. 

IT KINDA HAD THE BAR ROOM BRAWL FLAVOR. 

I REALIZE EVERY ONE DOESN'T HAVE MY KEEN SENSE OF RADAR PICKING UP ON PERHAPS THE UNUSUAL, BUT THAT'S WHAT MAKES FOR GOOD READING.  DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES.

NOW CLEAT DOES A REALLY GOOD JOB OF PUTTING THESE EVENTS ON FOR THE PUBLIC. LAST NIGHT WAS A HOOT.

IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN CALLED "THE BOBBY PATTERSON  VS  DUCE JONES CULT PHENOMENON"  CLEAT WOULD HAVE MADE SOME MONEY SELLING TICKETS TO IT.  DURING PART OF THE EVENT A LADY YELLED OUT AT ONE OF THE OFFICERS, "ARREST HER".  BOBBY WAS UP OUT OF HER SEAT YELLING AT DUCE JONES AND STARTING TO RUN DOWN THE ISLE AND AN OFFICER TOLD THEM BOTH TO STOP IT.  IT WAS FUNNY.

WHICH EVER ONE YOU THINK YOU LIKE AND WANT TO WIN, HAVE AT IT.

CORNELIUS WILLIAMS DIDN'T SHOW UP.  I DON'T KNOW WHY.  A COUPLE OF THE CANDIDATES DIDN'T SHOW UP. 

OH I COULD TELL YOU SOME STUFF. 

THEN WE HAD THE ARROGANT GUILTY GUIDRY. AND HER SPECIAL BRAND OF LOOKING GLASS.  THINK OF SNOW WHITE AND THE WICKED STEPMOTHER.  I WILL TELL YOU MORE ON THAT LATTER.  EVERYTHING SHE SAID. 

RIGHT NOW I HAVE TO GO DO SOMETHING'S.  BEEN UP SINCE 5:00  AM. AND I HAVE A TIGHT SCHEDULE TODAY

I HAD A REALLY GOOD TALK WITH MR. ALFRED, WE WERE TALKING ABOUT TAX ABATEMENTS AND NEW JOBS FOR THE COUNTY,  HE IS MY FAVORITE COMMISSIONER, THE MAN REALLY WORKS HARD FOR THIS COUNTY.  AND SOME GOOD THINGS HAPPENED BEFORE HE CAME TO THE  FORUM,   NEW JOBS ARE A COMING.

THANK YOU MR. ALFRED.   AND I TALKED TO HIM ABOUT SETTING UP SOME MEETINGS WITH SOMEONE I MET THAT WOULD LIKE TO BRING SOME BUSINESS INTO THIS COUNTY AND I WANT MR. ALFRED TO TALK TO HIM.  SO HE IS GOING TO DO THAT.  THINGS ARE LOOKING UP.

TONIGHT AFTER THE FORUM I WILL UP LOAD TO YOU TUBE MORE VIDEOS ON WHY I AM A CANDIDATE AND WHAT MY INTENTIONS ARE.

REMEMBER I RAN FOR COUNTY CLERK IN 2006 AND THIS WEBSITE KEPT YOU INFORMED ABOUT THE ANTICS IN THE COUNTY CLERKS OFFICE SINCE 2004 AND 2005 and 2006.

IN M Y CAMPAIGN 2006 I TOLD YOU I WOULD REBUILD EMPLOYEE MORALE AND RELATIONSHIPS WITH CITY ELECTIONS ADMINISTRATION,

 RESTORE TRUST IN THIS DEPARTMENT, I TOLD YOU THEN I WOULD WORK WITH EVERYONE CONNECTED TO THE CLERKS DEPARTMENT.

AND I TOLD YOU I WOULD FAITHFULLY CARRY OUT THE CLERKS DUTIES.

I WAS THE FIRST TO TELL YOU ABOUT THE MISTREATMENT OF COUNTY EMPLOYEES.  HOW SHE OWED HER SUPPORTERS AND GAVE THEIR RELATIVES NOT TO MENTION HER COUSIN JOBS IN THE CLERKS OFFICE.

I WAS THE FIRST TO TELL YOU ABOUT GUIDRY REFUSING TO CONDUCT CITY AND SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS .

I WAS THE FIRST PERSON TO TELL YOU ABOUT THE INSANITY OF BLUNTLY TELLING THE COMMISSIONERS " I WILL NOT DO IT".  I WAS THE FIRST PERSON IN 2005 TO INFORM YOU OF THE BURDEN GUIDRY PUT ON THE CITY'S ELECTION PROCESS REFUSING TO WORK WITH THEM.  THIS IS WHEN THE PROBLEMS WITH ELECTIONS STARTED AND SHE WAS INCAPABLE OF CONDUCTING PROPER ELECTIONS.

I WAS THE FIRST TO INFORM YOU GUIDRY DEMANDED A RAISE AND DEMANDED ADDITIONAL PERSONNEL IN THE CLERKS DEPARTMENT OR SHE WOULD NOT CONDUCT ELECTIONS.

I WAS THE FIRST TO TELL YOU SHE SAID TO THE COMMISSIONERS I AM ONLY MANDATED TO CARRY OUT COUNTY, STATE AND NATIONAL ELECTIONS AND YOU CAN'T MAKE ME CONDUCT THE OTHER ELECTIONS.

I WAS THE FIRST TO TELL YOU SHE DEMANDED AN ELECTIONS ADMINISTRATOR DEPARTMENT.  SO SHE WOULD NOT HAVE TO CONDUCT ELECTIONS. 

AND I WAS THE FIRST TO GIVE YOU THE INFORMATION ABOUT AN E. A. DEPARTMENT WOULD COST AND WHAT IT WOULD ENTAIL.  AND ESPECIALLY HOW THAT DEPARTMENT WOULD GROW AND THAT IT INDEED WOULD BECOME A SEPARATE DEPARTMENT AND ESCALATE INTO A MONSTER BUDGET ALL IT'S OWN. 

THE COMMISSIONERS LOOK AT OTHER COUNTIES AND SEE HOW THEY HANDLE THESE THINGS AND THEN PATTERN OUR COUNTY AFTER THEM.

I ALSO INFORMED YOU OF ALL THE COMMISSIONER COURT MEETINGS BUDGET MEETINGS AND ESPECIALLY WORKSHOPS THAT WERE A DIRECT RESULT OF GUIDRY'S REFUSAL TO EXECUTE THE FULL DUTIES OF JEFFERSON COUNTY CLERK.

I ALSO TOLD YOU HOW THE CITIES WERE FORCED TO PURCHASE THEIR OWN ELECTRONIC VOTING MACHINES BECAUSE GUIDRY WOULD NOT WORK WITH THEM.

AND IN THIS YEARS BUDGET MEETING SHE WAS CONDESCENDING TOWARD THE CITY ELECTIONS ADMINISTRATION .

AND IF YOU WILL REMEMBER WHEN THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS INCREASED THEIR SALARY BY12% AND AGREED TO INCREASE OTHER ELECTED PERSONS SALARY ALSO.  DO YOU REMEMBER THE UP ROAR OVER THAT?

AND SINCE THEN THE BUDGET HAS INCREASED AND INCREASED.  OH YEA.  I AM LOOKING AT THE ACTUAL (THAT'S A CATEGORY) BUDGET.

REMEMBER WHEN I INFORMED YOU THAT GUIDRY WOULD NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE MGT BUDGET STUDY. SAYING THERE WAS NO FAT TO CUT FROM THE DEPARTMENT?   THAT'S BECAUSE SANDY WALKER HAD THE DEPARTMENT.

 BET THERE IS NOW.

I HAVE INFORMED YOU OF ALL THE THINGS WE HAVE HAD TO DEAL WITH IN THIS DEPARTMENT SINCE 2005.

I GLAD I HAVE BEEN OF SERVICE TO YOU.

I HAVE ADDED THE OBAMA DECEPTION VIDEO IN CASE YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT.  IT IS ANOTHER OPINION WORTH LISTENING TO.

I HAVE SINCE 2004 KEPT YOU THE TAXPAYER INFORMED OF EVERY ISSUE I HAVE BEEN INVOLVED WITH.  AND THIS HAS PROVIDED YOU WITH DOCUMENTATION AND A NEW PERSPECTIVE FROM A TAXPAYER JUST LIKE YOUR SELF OF HOW THIS COUNTY GOVERNMENT OPERATES AND THE DECISIONS COMMISSIONERS  MAKE AND HOW THIS DIRECTLY AFFECTS YOU.

WE MUST REMEMBER ALSO, THIS AFFECTS OUR CHILDREN AND GRAND CHILDREN . 

FOR INSTANCE THE 6 CENT TAX INCREASE VOTE FOR IN SEPTEMBER OF 2004 MY SON IS AFFECTED BY.  NOW IN THAT MEETING JIMMY COKINOS WAS THE ONLY COMMISSIONER WHO VOTED AGAINST THAT INCREASE.

THAT INCREASE WAS VOTED IN TO SUPPORT THE $80 MILLION BUDGET THAT WAS PASSED AT THAT TIME.  THE BUDGET WAS PASSED TO SUPPORT FORD PARK.

NOW I HAVE ALWAYS SAID WHAT THE SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT NEEDS, GIVE IT TO THEM.  WHAT THE D.A. NEEDS GIVE IT TO THEM. 

WE DO NOT HAVE AN IDEAL SITUATION WITH FORD PARK AND WE NEVER WILL.  IT IS BETTER BUT NOT REALLY GOOD.  ESSENTIALLY WE ARE STUCK WITH IT BECAUSE WHEN THE COMMISSIONERS WERE ABLE TO MAKE A CHANGE,  (REMEMBER THE AD HOCK COMMITTEE)  THEY DID NOT.  THEY DIDN'T WANT TO SPEND MORE TIME ON IT AND WAITED TOO LONG TO PUT AN AD HOCK COMMITTEE TOGETHER AND THEN THE MANAGEMENT CONTRACT CAME UP AGAIN. 

IT WAS EASIER TO SAY WE WILL RENEW THE CONTRACT THAN TO MAKE CORRECTIVE DECISIONS.  ONE THING THAT WAS DISCUSSED WAS IF THERE WAS NO MANAGEMENT COMPANY OVERSEEING FORD PARK WOULD THE COMMISSIONERS BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IT.

THERE WERE OTHER OPTIONS BUT THEY JUST WAITED TOO LONG TO LOOK AT THOSE OPTIONS BEFORE THE MANAGEMENT CONTRACT WAS UP. THEY SHOULD HAVE STARTED A YEAR BEFORE THE CONTRACT WAS DUE, AND AGGRESSIVELY PURSUE OTHER OPTIONS.

BEFORE, COMMISSIONER COURT WAS LOCKED UP WITH THREE VOTES. NOW WE HAVE A COMMISSIONER COURT THAT IS MUCH MORE EVEN KEEL WHERE VOTING IS CONCERNED. 

THERE HAS BEEN A LOT TO BE DISAPPOINTED IN,  HOWEVER IT IS GOVERNMENT AND YOU HAVE TO APPRECIATE THE POSITIVE CHANGES THAT HAVE BEEN MADE.

THERE HAS BEEN ONE CHANGE MADE THAT IS TRAMPING ON YOUR CIVIL RIGHTS AND FREEDOM OF SPEECH.  CENSORSHIP IS IN PLAY.

WHERE ARE THOSE TEA PARTY PROTESTERS WHEN YOU NEED THEM?

Today is monday and another commissioner court.  I will be campaigning I don't know if I can get there on time.  However lots of things going on. 

I am going to put more videos on You Tube.  My videos I will be making and up loading will give you a better perspective of the "I love to roll around and play in your money" county clerk we have now.  She absolutely has to go.  Any way i will be getting to that.

Oh you should have seen how smug she was at the church forum we attended.  it was a disgusting display. 

Second week of early voting today.  YEAAAAA!!!!!.  There are some things I need to tell you about that. 

Here is something else I am going to do.  As soon as I can figure out how to cut the video I have taken of commissioner court and other county meetings I will put it on you tube. 

I am amazed at the number of people that do not show an interest in county government anymore.

This is not something you can do once and walk away and it is done. You have to stay on top of things.  The budget this year was so much bigger, and not to mention they did raise our taxes and this is not going to stop any time soon.

Happy Valentines Day to all. 

On this valentines day I was in the Madi Grais parade. I had a lot of fun.  Everything that could go wrong did.  Everything i had planned completely messed up.  Consequently It all turned out perfect. 

It was an experience, but it was fun.  Lots and Lots of children. I didn't know there would be that many. I would definitely do it again. 

I had no idea those floats were so big.  I just wonder, what do all those people do with all those beads. 

Any way it was fun.

Well, commish court was monday and it was interesting.  No not the actual court stuff, but what goes on before and after commish court.  That's the real show.  That stupid twitter update button isn't working for some reason or i would have updated my account.  Well I am on  my space and facebook.

Let's see commish court lasted a whole 8 minutes 66 seconds.  I know something like a world record.  hugh?  The most important thing is Madell Jornet is retiring from the county after 23 years of service.  Yep.  Gurl friend has plenty of things she wants to do.  Her party is on wednesday at 10 am and she invited me to be there.  Well, since this is thursday I will go ahead and tell you, Yes i went to her party, she had the biggest chocolate cake i have ever seen.  Lots of cookies and punch.  I asked if it was spiked, but no too early in the morning.  And well Patrick wouldn't approve.  She got lots of nice presents and a resolution, plus a watch.  I took pictures and a little video and i will put it up so you all can see.  I did capture patrick reading the resolution and giving her present to her.  It was a nice party with plenty of visitors.  Madell has been through 4 auditors and 37 elected persons.  She has been busy.  Her last day at work was wednesday.  She spent her entire 23 years in the corner office with windows.  A coveted place.  You will be missed Madell, but not to worry she is on facebook.

I  made the decision quite some time ago.  I am running for Jefferson County Clerk. 

As you will recall in 2006 I ran for County Clerk as a write in candidate.  I received over 3,700 votes.  Actually I received more, but that was all that was reported.

So my dear supporters,  it is time again to let everyone you know VOTE

RHONDA DUGAS FOR JEFFERSON COUNTY CLERK.

I have spent six years of my life working towards this time.

DUGAS

 is the FIRST name that appears under COUNTY CLERK. All you have to do is press  my name on the democratic ticket.   As many of you know the democrats met at headquarters to choose which position our name will appear.  We chose little ping pong balls with numbers written on them and I got the #1 and that is why my name appears first.     

Do not be casual about this county clerk election. 

Don't forget all the problems we have with elections. 

Don't forget how in 2006 my opponent was responsible for the HORRIBLE mess with our voting machines and ballots.

   Don't forget how the cities were shut out in the cold having to buy their own voting machines because my opponent REFUSED TO WORK with them.  She just got up in commissioner court and said    'I AM NOT GOING TO DO CITY ELECTIONS'.   You want to know what the reason was?  It was too much work.  Yep that is what my opponent said. 

 And the double dipping in your pocket for government taxes began.  And it is getting worse.  She does not play nice with anyone. 

Don't  forget   I was the one who campaigned to  open the south county or port arthur office.  I said in my campaign speeches the first thing I would do is open that office for the taxpayer because my opponent SHUT IT DOWN.

I have the news reports to prove I campaigned for that.  My opponent was forced to open that office after the election.

 As a Tax Practitioner and Entrepreneur I will deal with a lot of personal financial information,  IRS tax laws and tax codes  schedules, forms, and of course Publication 17.  Right now I am studying all the new changes for 2009.  And there are a lot of changes.

I still attend Commissioner Court.  I still tape the proceedings.  And I still take lots of notes and I have been to the budget meetings.  Budget meetings are very educational.  It takes up a lot of time to go but worth it in the end.  You not only get a good understanding of different departments and the relationship to the court, but it can be very entertaining.

 I have been to over 150 county meetings and that is a conservative number.  And that includes many different kinds of meetings.

I have good working relationships with the commissioners, elected personnel and county employees.  I also have the highest regard for our county employees.  I certainly proved that when they had not received a raise in three years and I  lobbied for a raise for them  which they received. 

You should see all the documents and notes and information I keep at my house.  Including video and  pictures.  Boxes and Boxes.

Now commissioner court has settled down way too much.  And I am disappointed that the only time many people come to commissioner court is when they are running for office and want  to be seen.  At one time it was standing room only. 

Let me just say Congratulations Mr. Sinegal for a one year anniversary at commissioner court.  You have done well. 

It seems you all got the idea that you don't have to watch your government anymore.  HA HA. Not so fast.  There is plenty to watch.  You just have to know what to watch for.  This county has gotten complacent again.   This non action on your part has gotten you a bigger budget with lots of your money to spend. 

I happened to hear someone give a "vote for me speech"  no it wasn't a commissioner, and this person talked about how big the budget has gotten.  I had to giggle about that because this person was a part of making that budget bigger and was now using it to campaign.  Holy  Smoke.  Nobody caught on. 

The most disturbing thing:  Your voice in commissioner court has been silenced and censored.  All because one commissioner was afraid of what MIGHT be said in open court.  Where were you to question that decision. 

Oh my goodness the freedom you are willing to turn over and give away. 

Your taxes keep going up up up and I don't see any of you making anyone accountable for this.
