today this court is addressing the decison to hand over government grant  money to a committee.  This will not do.

our county will be receiving multiple millions of dollars for taxpayers in this county.  This item reads such that it seems you have already decided to form a committee and who will be on it.

Government money put into the hands of a committee will be trouble. Perhaps you will remember the last committee this court put together and the problems taxpayers faced because of it.  The insistence of secrecy still causes us to question today your choices of that committee.

The government grant money should be handled by thiis county.  This court will ultimately be responsible for the way the money is distributed.  there are families in each of your precincts that desperately need additional financial help to begin to recover from the devastation each one  has faced.

this is a lot of money and there are a lot of people that need the financial help. Private special Interest will not do.  Citizens will want full disclosure with out resistance to the way this money is given out and to whom it is given.  They will come to their commissioners for answers.  Committees do not like the open meeting law nor do they like their documents made public.  This will not be acceptable

if this issue is pressed then let's have a workshop to discuss in depth  other possible options.  and to interview the choices you will decide on. and any conflict of interest that might arise.

What a surprise it was for me to hear on the news our county judge told the Governors TaskForce that he called for a voluntary evacuation on Monday spetember 19.  That simply isn’t true, voluntary or mandatory.   What do the facts say.  According to news stories from various web sites,

On September 20, Mr. Griffith was monitoring the situation, no mandatory or voluntary evacuation was ordered.  EMO would be meeting Tuesday night and Wednesday morning to evaluate the situation.

Wecdnesday September 21, the governor tells us to evacuate. PT Arthur mayor orders mandatory evacuation for sabine pass  effective 6 am Thursday.  A VOLUNTARY evacuation is called for the rest of the county.

A mandatory 6AM evacuation was called for in this county  On Thursday September 22,

On Friday at 2pm I said I love you and good by to my son on the phone,  got into my car and drove away not knowing what I would face through out the night or when I got back home.  Thank god it was only a house I lost and not my family.

I would appreciate it if you would correct this error to the governors task force so that the PROPER EMO response can be called for in the future. If its too much trouble, I will do it my self.

THANK YOU
